Several years ago I helped tear down a house for some of the lumber. As I was helping clean it out. There were all these old pictures and I thought “wow these had to be important to someone or they would not have taken them”. So I guess the buck stopped there. So much history ended for some family that day.
I have procrastinated about at least starting a website to collect information about the family so we could have it for future generations. Well we finally have it. I have spent the last couple years studying African American history and we have such a strong history as a people. I don’t want to ever forget the struggle! Can you imagine where we would be if we started out with an even playing field over 300 years ago? God has truly been good to us!
Anyhow we can discuss this in future blogs. I just get excited when I think of where we come from to where we are heading. Even though we still have issues in this county can you imagine what our ancestors would think about the U.S. having a black president? I did not think I would see it in my lifetime. We still have a long way to go but nothing can hold us back but ourselves.
I thought this was the most appropriate time for ALL OF US to re-read, remember and NEVER FORGET, the speech given by Willie Lynch a slave owner who over 300 years ago devised a plan to help keep Black people divided...
We must do everything within our power to keep Willie Lynch Letter or his instructions on "Let's Make a Slave " from coming true. We must break the cycle. I look forward to growing with you as we explore our past, enjoy our present and leave a legacy for future generations.
